Christopher Doyle Filming In The Neon World

In this short but illuminating documentary renowned cinematography Christopher Doyle ( Chungking Express, Ashes Of Time, In The Mood For Love, 2046 ) shares with us the aesthetics and visual language of filming/lighting with neon lights –

While watching the clip I recalled other notable films with substantial neon light visuals in them – Akira’s opening sequence, Blade Runner and Ghost In The Shell; the latter two were without a doubt informed by look of Hong Kong’s neon light cityscape, and used to great effect.
