Kingyo No Uta ( The Song Of The Goldfish ) is a photo book documenting the resin/acrylic 3D art of Fukahori Riusuke. Using a meticulous method of acrylic paint applied onto stacking layers of resin, Fukahori creates stunning and life-like depictions of aquatic life, primarily goldfishes swimming in Japanese wooden sake boxes and bamboo hats.
Every single piece is a painstaking affair sometimes taking months to complete, but Fukahori’s superb artistry has earned him accolades, and he has since showcased his work in solo exhibitions around the world, including London and New York.
This book showcases a good collection of the artist’s portfolio of work, including those on display at the 2015 New York show, as well as some large acrylic paintings.
I was utterly fascinated by Fukahori’s work when I first saw it, mesmerized by the magical and serene quality of his perfect, freeze-frame 3d pieces of art. Recommended.
