Yoshitaka Amano – The World Beyond Your Imagination (天野喜孝展 -想像を超えた世界-) is a splendid collection of art works by world renowned Japanese character designer/illustrator Yoshitaka Amano.

The 250+ works featured in the book are pieces found in the exhibition of the same name held from 2014-2015 in the Kumamoto and Aichi prefectures, Japan.

(above & below) From time to time I seem to see visual affinity to Gustav Klimt’s paintings in Amano’s art works, especially in their use of the color gold and elaborate floral themes.

Found at the end of the book are two detailed forwards written for both the exhibitions in Japanese, English and Chinese for some additional background on Yoshitaka Amano’s work.

An extensive collection ( 251 pieces ) of Yoshitaka Amano’s art work, presented in a beautiful A4 sized book. The prints are bold, crisp and the paper quality is thick. This one comes highly recommended.

Thank you for the review!! I don’t have any Amano’s artbook yet.
I like his early works in some awesome anime series.
Are there images of his illustrations for “Mospeada”?

Now I feel I need this book, has a lot of his work history.

DISTRAKT

Superb!

Kenouki – Yes I think there’s one or two illustrations of Mospeada. :]

The biggest problem i have with certain artbooks and some Yoshitaka Amano artbooks in particular, is the amount of negative space and the sizes of some of the artwork on hand . I’ve yet to grab one of his artbooks because of this( i know it’s a stupid reason). Does this artbook suffer from those problems?

yonghow

Christopher – This is only my 2nd art book by Amano-san, but the reproduced art work are big and do fill up most of the page space as seen from the review images above. In short, recommended. :]
