Nausicaa Of The Valley Of Wind ( Kaze No Tani No Naushika ) is a manga written and illustrated by renowned anime director Miyazaki Hayao. The manga was first published in chapters by Tokuma Shoten in their monthly magazine Animage from 1982 to 1994, and when completed was collected into 7 Tankobon volumes as it appears in this boxset. I still have my VIZ comics English Edition from when I was a kid, but I’ve always wanted to re-read the manga in its original Japanese lauguage.
(above) Each Tankobon volume comes with a foldout poster at the front of the book. As with most Japanese comics the book reads from right to left.
The volumes are twice the size of your typical manga Tankobon, and the larger prints make for a much more comfortable read. The prints themselves are crisp and sharp, although the paper quality is quite thin. This is to be expected given the price range of this boxset ( about 30 USD ).
There is also a 2 volume hard cover edition that is about four times the price of this reviewed set.

A beautifully illustrated manga masterpiece by Miyazaki Hayao, perfect for those who want to read the manga in it’s original Japanese language. For English readers, check out the Viz Comics Boxset.
