From the same series as the previously reviewed Patlabor TV art book, “Patlabor The Movie 2 : Perfect Establishment Data” compiles a hearty collection of mecha design/data sheets for the numerous Labors featured in this film, directed by Mamoru Oshii.
(above) A few pages of montaged screencaps give a recap of the key moments and characters in the film. ( below ) Color keys for the lead characters and mecha.
(above) Detailed mecha design breakdowns of the Labors featured in the film, notably the Ingram.
(above) The Hannibal, adopted by the UN for peacekeeping missions. It also appears in several episodes of the Patlabor TV series. If Labors are your thing, I highly recommend The Labor Industry art book, which charts every Labor that appeared in the TV series and films, with beautiful colored illustrations.
(below) Incredibly intricate and detailed drawings of the inner workings of the Ingram; I believe these drawings are all done without the help of any computer software.
(above and below) Character sheets for section chiefs Nagumo and Goto, the main protagonists in the film. Noa Izumi, further below, who was the lead character in the TV series take a secondary role in this film and only comes into full action near the third act.
(above) Some select layout boards from the film.
What can I say ? I love both the TV series and this film so much it’s hard for me not to recommend this book.
