About

Hello and thank you for visiting Halcyon Realms. My name is Vong yonghow and I am a computer graphics artist from Singapore.

I am currently attached to Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), Lucasfilm Singapore as a Lighting Technical Director. Some of the films I’ve worked on include Rango, Transformers – Dark of the Moon, Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Marvel’s The Avengers and Star Trek Into Darkness.

Prior to this I stayed in Tokyo, Japan for six years after been awarded the NAC Takashimaya Arts Scholarship to study film in Toho Gakuen. Half a year before graduation, I started working in Sunrise Emotion Animation Studios as a lighting artist on Freedom Project, an award winning OVA animation series commissioned by Nissin Cup Noodles for their 35th Anniversary, with character and mecha design by Otomo Katsuhiro ( Akira, Steamboy), and theme song “This is Love“, performed by Utada Hikaru. After the project ended, I moved on to Polygon Pictures to work as a lighting/compositing artist.

Because of my love for photography, animation and film I have tried my hands on many different fields and have worked as an animator, Inferno artist intern, as well as a fashion photography assistant.

I am continually inspired by sights and visuals in everyday life which helps me develop fresh ideas for future projects. When time permits, I like taking pictures with my Canon DSLR and Mamiya 645 Pro.

Please take a look around my blog and and if you like what you are seeing or reading you might want to consider subscribing to my rss feed, follow me on twitter or if you need to get in touch with me you can do so through my contact page.
